Training Ontario’s Health-Care Workforce

Ontario is expanding the Ontario Learn and Stay Grant with a new Medical Education stream, backed by a $220 million investment that will cover tuition, books, and other educational costs for more than 2,000 future family doctors who commit to practicing in Ontario for at least five years after completing their studies.

Since launching in 2023, the Ontario Learn and Stay Grant has invested more than $182 million to support over 13,300 future nurses, paramedics, and medical laboratory technologists studying and working in communities that need them most. By helping students pursue rewarding health-care careers while encouraging them to stay and practice in Ontario, this program is strengthening the province’s health-care workforce and improving access to care.
