The government is taking action to keep communities safe by expanding correctional capacity, strengthening border security, combating auto theft and organized crime, and supporting the recruitment and training of more police officers. As part of a $3 billion investment in Ontario’s correctional system, more than 2,500 new correctional spaces are being added over the next decade to help ensure violent and repeat offenders remain behind bars.
These investments are complemented by stronger provincial bail measures and other public safety initiatives designed to hold offenders accountable and enhance community safety. Together, these actions are helping build a stronger justice system while protecting Ontario families and communities
