Ontario is investing $865,000 in the Ontario Woodlot Association to enhance private forest management and establish new supply chains for forest biomass, helping unlock new economic opportunities in the province’s forestry sector. This investment will support healthy, productive forests while testing a business model with the potential to double sustainable private harvesting over the next 10 to 15 years.
The project will establish regional networks that bring together landowners, forestry service providers, and forest sector businesses to strengthen collaboration and expand market opportunities. It builds on previous investments that have supported innovation and sustainable forest management across Ontario’s privately owned forests.
This investment supports Ontario’s broader efforts to strengthen the forestry sector, create economic opportunities in rural communities, and build a more resilient and self-reliant economy while ensuring forests are managed sustainably for future generations.
