Ontario is continuing to deliver results in the fight against auto theft, with vehicle thefts down 36 per cent since the peak in 2023 and a further 8.4 per cent decrease in the first half of 2026 compared to the same period last year.
To build on this progress, Ontario is investing an additional $6 million through the Preventing Auto Thefts (PAT) Grant Program to support 22 police-led projects across the province. This funding will provide law enforcement with more tools and resources to disrupt organized crime networks, investigate auto thefts, and recover stolen vehicles.
Since 2023, Ontario has invested $24 million through the PAT Grant Program and $51 million overall in initiatives aimed at combating auto theft. These investments are helping keep communities safe, support frontline officers, and continue the downward trend in vehicle thefts across the province.
