Investing to Build Stronger Communities and Lower Housing Costs

Ontario is investing in critical infrastructure to build stronger communities, support housing growth, and create good-paying jobs across the province. Through an $8.8 billion partnership with the federal government, Ontario is helping communities build the housing-enabling infrastructure needed to get more homes built faster and keep homeownership within reach for more families.

At the same time, Ontario is making a historic $500 million investment through the Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund to support new and upgraded arenas, community centres, pools, and playing fields. These projects will strengthen local economies, support growing communities, and create spaces where residents can live, work, and play.

Municipalities, Indigenous communities, non-profit organizations, and eligible for-profit organizations are invited to apply for the next round of Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund funding by December 22, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. EST. Through these investments, Ontario is building the infrastructure and community spaces families need today while preparing communities for future growth.
