Ontario continues to cut red tape and create a more competitive business environment that attracts investment, supports job creation, and strengthens economic growth. According to the 2026 Burden Reduction Report, Ontario has removed more than 14,000 regulatory compliance requirements since 2018, giving the province the lowest regulatory burden per capita in Canada and saving businesses and individuals more than $1.3 billion and 1.8 million hours annually.
By streamlining regulations and reducing unnecessary administrative burdens, Ontario is making it faster and easier for businesses to invest, expand, and create good-paying jobs. These efforts have helped attract more than $235 billion in investment across the province while supporting long-term economic growth and competitiveness.
Ontario is also reviewing more than 350 economic development-related permits with the goal of eliminating or transforming at least 35 per cent of them by 2028. By modernizing government services and harnessing new technologies, Ontario is continuing to build a stronger, more investment-ready economy for workers, businesses, and communities.
