Building a Critical Minerals Supply Chain

Ontario is strengthening its position as a global leader in critical minerals with support for a new $410 million copper and palladium processing facility in Marathon. Backed by an $11 million investment through the Critical Minerals Processing Fund, the project will help ensure minerals mined in Ontario are processed in Ontario by Ontario workers, creating good-paying jobs and strengthening domestic supply chains.

As global demand for critical minerals continues to grow and jurisdictions navigate the uncertainty of U.S. tariffs, this investment will expand Ontario’s processing capacity and support the production of materials needed for electric vehicles, clean energy infrastructure, transmission systems, and defence technologies. By investing in strategic projects like this, Ontario is building a more resilient economy, securing its critical mineral future, and creating new opportunities for workers and communities across the province.
