Attracting Investment by Cutting Red Tape for Businesses

As President Trump’s tariffs continue to create economic uncertainty, Ontario is taking action to make the province the most competitive place in the G7 to invest, build, and create good-paying jobs. By cutting red tape, lowering costs, and streamlining approvals, Ontario is helping businesses grow, attract investment, and protect jobs across the province.

Since 2018, more than 14,000 regulatory compliance requirements have been eliminated, giving Ontario the lowest regulatory burden per capita in Canada. These changes are saving individuals and businesses more than $1.3 billion and 1.8 million hours every year, reducing costs and improving efficiency.

Ontario is also reviewing 350 economic development-related permits to eliminate or transform 35 per cent of them by 2028. By removing barriers to investment and supporting job creators, Ontario is building a stronger, more competitive, and more resilient economy for workers, families, and businesses.
